Hello Natalie Fans!
I apologize for this being a week later than usual. I tend to work on this the first weekend of the month and last weekend I was ill.
But don’t worry, I didn’t forget about you or Natalie - especially with Natalie now in Australia and filming looking to be ramping up for Thor: Love and Thunder. Let’s hope that when they do begin, that production goes well and there are no further delays.
And of course, that nobody catches Coronavirus during filming!
With that said, let’s get to September's biggest news items.
September Natalie News
#5 - Messages of Hope
Natalie released two video messages in September. The first message was a short video giving support to Athletes Unlimited, for their commitment to female athletes.
The second message, which was a bit more substantial, was about TIFF20 - tying in with Natalie’s role as an ambassador for the Toronto based festival, which had to operate very differently this year.
Natalie has a long history with TIFF (more on this later) so it was nice to see her showing some love to the festival that has brought attention to many of her films over the years.
#4 - Interview Mode (Again)
Natalie continued her regular series of Instagram interviews in September with chats with Deepa Kunapuli and Dr. Laura Markham, that latter which is a must-watch for any parents out there.
#3 - Anniversary
Time flies when you’re trying to be perfect. September marked the 10th anniversary of Black Swan’s debut at the Venice International Film Festival. I think it’s about time for a new Darren Aronofsky - Natalie Portman collaboration, don’t you?
#2 - V for Very Many Pixels
Speaking of classic Natalie films, V for Vendetta was announced to be receiving a 4k remastered version of the popular graphic novel adaptation. It includes some new extras, not least of which - Natalie’s audition for the role of Evey!
#1 - Down Under
For me, the biggest news of the month (and it was on the first of the month) was Natalie arriving in Australia to prepare for filming of the new Thor. It has been too damn long since we’ve seen Natalie on set and very exciting to know that a new film is in the works - even though it will be awhile before it hits the screens.
Lot’s of filming news on the way…hopefully.
Quote of the Month
The quote of the month is inspired by the V for Vendetta news…
“We are told to remember the idea, not the man, because a man can fail. He can be caught, he can be killed and forgotten, but 400 years later, an idea can still change the world.” - Natalie Portman as Evey
Blast from the Past
Bouncing back to TIFF, here is an under the radar set from the premiere of Love and Other Impossible Pursuits in 2009. I can’t remember much about the film but this was a lovely appearance, don’t you think?
You can view the full set here.
That’s a wrap - see you in a few weeks!
